About

Joey Langston’s legal practice started in 1983, after he obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law. He joined the Langston Law Firm, PA, which his father, Joe Ray, established in 1964. After his father’s death in 1986, Mr. Langston took over the management of the firm and started focusing his practice on personal injury cases and criminal defense, with specialization in trial work.

In his decades-long practice, Joey Langston has been behind some of Mississippi’s high-profile cases and history-setting verdicts. In 1990, he obtained one of the first jury verdicts in the Northern District Federal Court in excess of $1 million. In 1999, Mr. Langston won the largest settlement in the history of Mississippi at that time for a single wrongful death claim involving a minor. He was also credited for the state of Mississippi’s successful negotiation with MCI/WorldCom in 2005 with regard to the company’s uncollected back taxes. MCI settled for $100 million plus a $15 million office building donation to the state. Initially, the State Tax Commission was willing to accept a settlement of $3 million.

Apart from his many wins in the legal arena, Joey Langston is also known for his charitable works and civic contributions. Apart from offering annual scholarships and financial aid to needy students, he is a long-time member and supporter of the First Baptist Church in Booneville. His law firm, the Langston Law Firm, PA, is also known throughout Booneville and Prentiss County for being community-minded.
